Performer Rejects Anti-Vaccine Views Following Lending His Voice To Controversial Pandemic Feature
Liam Neeson has provided his narration to a new documentary that challenges the legitimacy of vaccines and praises former health official the political figure.
The Feature's Contentious Foundation
Called "Plague of Corruption," the project is inspired by a bestselling book co-authored by a disgraced researcher, who gained notoriety during the global outbreak for claims that the virus was caused by a faulty batch of the flu vaccine.
The publication's writing partner, Kent Heckenlively, has previously authored books with conspiracy-prone radio host Alex Jones. The producer recently posted celebrating Neeson's role in the project.
A Firm Rebuttal
A spokesperson for Neeson have provided a response pushing back against implications that he subscribes to anti-immunization views.
"Everyone can acknowledge that unethical practices might be present within the medical sector, but that must not be equated to opposition to vaccines," the response explains. "He has never been, and is not, against vaccines. His considerable work with Unicef highlights his consistent support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
It noted that the actor did not shape the film's messaging and that inquiries about its claims ought to go to the filmmakers.
Major Assertions Featured in the Feature
According to the documentary, the voiceover spoken by Neeson features several strong statements:
- It claims that pro-immunization voices have demanded "blind obedience" to health authorities.
- It declares that "medical science has become dangerously politicized."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is shown claiming, "The major issue with vaccines is that they just aren't adequately tested."
- The film also criticizes stay-at-home orders, claiming they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Concerning the immunizations, it cites a view that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Historical Background and Recent Issues
The film further cites a 2004 BBC documentary about HIV drug testing on children, which was later the topic of a BBC apology by the network for violations of guidelines.
Last month, RFK Jr directed the CDC to change its official position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism. This assertion is repeated in the film, despite a new report from the WHO reiterating no evidence has been found.
A Past Position of Endorsement
Contrasting the documentary's message, Neeson has in the past shown strong support for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.
In 2022, he referred to vaccines as "a remarkable triumph," stating that "The debate about vaccines in the past few years has overlooked how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in human history."
The documentary concludes with Neeson's narration stating, "This isn't the finish of our story. Rather, it is the beginning of a different phase."
