'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Relatives of Unaccounted For Young People Desperately Seek News After Alpine Blaze
The relatives of teenagers lost after a devastating inferno at a establishment in a Swiss ski resort are facing an excruciating period of uncertainty for confirmed information and appealing for information about their loved ones publicly.
The blaze engulfed the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the early hours of January 1st. Circulated images show the ceiling igniting as beverages with sparklers are raised in celebration.
Officials have stated that it could take an extended period to formally name the those who perished of the tragedy, which killed 40 people and hurt another scores more. Authorities stated on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with work continuing to locate the remaining few.
In the waiting period, families and friends have been posting on the internet to request clues about their friends who were present at the venue that evening.
Heartbreaking Pleas for the Missing
The whereabouts of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are not yet determined, according to an heartfelt request from his parent.
The resident of Lutry near the city, told a publication that she had gone back to the city to see if he was in the medical facility, while his father did the same in Bern, but could not find him.
"I'm living a nightmare, an ordeal. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in critical condition. It's terrible," she stated.
She explained that some of his friends had been located with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they went through hell."
The Italy's government has indicated that a number of of its citizens have not been located.
Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage promising athlete, originally from Italy but now living in the UAE.
The Italian Golf Federation has said that he is deceased, without directly referencing the tragedy, honoring a "talented young man who embodied dedication and true sportsmanship."
His parent, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around midnight. An official spokesperson has stated that a formal confirmation of his death is not yet.
Additional Cases
Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is also among the missing. His mother told reporters that he had been on vacation but had ventured out with a group and ended up at the venue.
"A companion informed me they fled after the fire erupted and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he lost sight of him," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.
One of his educators commented, "I remember his kindness and positive demeanor, coupled with great responsibility. Every time ask if help out."
Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Greek and Swiss nationality but lives permanently in Switzerland, was also at the bar on that night, according to reports.
Her sibling has published an urgent request online, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.
Officials from her other nation say they are actively engaged with the developments.
