British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the sports world offered condolences for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
