Alarming Figures of People Now Engage in Vaping, Warns Global Health Organization

"Numerous of people are ceasing, or refraining from tobacco use because of tobacco regulation measures by countries throughout the planet," he commented.
"As a reaction to this significant progress, the tobacco industry is fighting back with new nicotine products, aggressively focusing on adolescents. Authorities must take action more rapidly and more vigorously in applying tested tobacco-control measures," the official added.
The vaping statistics are an approximation since numerous countries - 109 in total, and many in African and Southeast Asia - fail to collect data.
Per the study, as of recent February this period, at minimum 86 million e-cigarette users were grown-ups, mostly in high-income states.
And at bare minimum 15 million youth aged 13 and 15 currently vape, based on research from 123 states.
Although several nations have tried to implement e-cigarette rules to address underage vaping in recent years, by the close of 2024, 62 countries still had no regulation in effect, and 74 states had no age limit at which e-cigarettes can be acquired, states the medical body.
Meanwhile, tobacco use has been declining - from an approximated 1.38 billion individuals in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024.
Frequency of tobacco usage among women dropped the largest - from 11% in 2010 to 6.6% in 2024.
Among men, the reduction was from 41.4% in 2010 to 32.5% in 2024.
But 20% of adults internationally even now employs tobacco.
